Michael Butterfield is an experienced trial attorney licensed to practice law in both Missouri and Michigan.  He has guided clients through a wide range of civil disputes in state and federal courts nationwide.

While in law school, Mr. Butterfield interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and with the Michigan Minority Business Development Agency.  He also served as a board member for the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association and as President of APALSA’s Chapter at Wayne State University Law School. Following law school, Mr. Butterfield worked at a Fortune 100 insurance company in Michigan and at a respected defense firm in Missouri.

Mr. Butterfield joined Mantese Honigman, PC in 2022. He focuses his practice on business litigation, including shareholder and partnership disputes, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duties.  He additionally has substantial experience with insurance and construction matters, advising clients in a variety of industries on prelitigation issues, contract drafting, and risk assessment and mitigation. 

In 2023 and 2024, Mr. Butterfield was named as a Best Lawyer: Ones to Watch in America in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, and Product Liability Litigation – Defendants.

Mr. Butterfield, along with CEO Gerard Mantese, leads the firm’s St. Louis, Missouri, office. He lives in St. Louis, with his wife and son.
