Professional Experience

Terry Milne Osgood’s practice is devoted to complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on fraud, breach of contract, and business tort claims. She is a talented legal researcher and an expert writer who has led numerous appeals in state and federal courts across the country. Drawing on her background in linguistics, her knowledge of numerous languages, and her fascination with semantics, she writes in a persuasive, precise, and demonstrably effective style. Ms. Osgood subscribes to a view attributed to Albert Einstein: “If you cannot explain it simply, you do not understand it well enough.” Her favorite professional activities are drafting complex trial and appellate briefs, and crafting jury instructions and verdict forms for trial.

Ms. Osgood was born in Missouri but grew up in Canada, completing her undergraduate degree in Saskatchewan. She moved to Missouri to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where she served as a research assistant to four different professors, and as an intern with Pasco M. Bowman, II, United States Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. She graduated in 1987, ranking first in her class. She clerked for United States District Judge D. Brook Bartlett (W.D. MO) for two years before moving to Michigan in 1989 to work with a large Detroit firm. After her children were born, Ms. Osgood clerked for a Michigan Court of Appeals judge for three years, before joining a boutique law firm specializing in business trials, where she practiced for 18 years. Ms. Osgood joined this firm in 2016, and serves as head of the firm’s electronic discovery team.
